R. Jeannine Ries, age 93, of Omaha, formerly of Scribner
Died Monday, October 23, 2023 at The Heritage at Sterling Ridge in Omaha.

Jeannie Ries, born April 9, 1930 as Ruth Jeannine Haun. Jeannie joins her husband Glenn, son Jim, grandson Nicholas and sister Jan. She is survived by her sisters Bev Nissen and Barb Broderick, children Mary Ries Jensen (Mike) of Cincinnatti, Susan Ries Dames (Dick) of Waverly, and John Ries (Nadine) of Omaha, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren along with many dear friends.

Jeannie graduated from Scribner Public High School and then obtained her RN degree from Lincoln General School of Nursing. She married Glenn Ries November 13, 1950 and raised their family in Scribner NE. Jeannie became a registered nurse, working at the Fremont hospital for many years, followed by a career as Plant Nurse at IBP.

Jeannie has lived at Herritage (Sterling Ridge) in Omaha the past 5 years where she enjoyed making new friends, playing Bingo, watching movie classics on TV, and following her favorite sports teams.

Jeannie had an enormous capacity for caring. She employed this professionally in many settings and for many years. She also used it in many ways to care for her extended family. She just had a way of making things better. She will be missed by many.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, October 26, 2023 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner from 5pm to 6:30pm. A Wake service will begin at 6:30pm. Nebraska Nurse Honor Guard ceremony to follow the wake at St. Lawrence. Funeral Mass will be 10am, Friday, October 27, 2023 at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Omaha. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery west of Scribner.

    I am so sorry. I had the privilege to work in OB with Jeannie for several years. She became a dear friend as well as co- worker. She was kind, compassionate, and fun all rolled into one. She had a very deep love for her family and was so proud of each one. She will be missed by many.

I had the privilege of growing up knowing this amazing women and will always hold her memory close. She was a role model and friend to so many myself included. Rest easy dear friend.

Jeanine was such a joy and I loved getting to know her while visiting my parents at Sterling Ridge. My mom will miss her dearly.
