Marvin was born to Theodore and Amelia (Schlautman) Doerneman on January 12, 1923 at Aloys. He grew up there on the farm and attended the Aloys Catholic School. Later, during the early 1970's, Marvin and several other farmers wanted to further their education. So they took classes, sponsored by Platte County, during the winter months and received their GEDs. As he was growing up, Marvin was involved in 4-H showing calves in Cuming County. And later, he became a 4-H Leader.

On January 16, 1946, he was married to Viola Maass in St. Bridgets Catholic Church in Omaha. In 1947, they moved to a farm near Clarkson, Nebraska. The couple moved to Norfolk, where they both attended night classes at Northeast Tech studying real estate. Four years later, they went back to farming near Wisner until moving to Fremont. Here in Fremont Marvin repaired and sold lawn mowers.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knight of Columbus 3rd Degree.

He was preceded in death by brothers Wilbur and Howard.

  1. Sr Marcia Baumert for Ed Baumert
Dear Doerneman family, I am writing on behalf of my dad, Ed. He just finished telling me of the friendship he and Marvin and Viola shared over the years. Beginning with their young years as classmates, Ed and Marvin also were hunting partners and as young men explored life! He recounted a time when Marvin, Viola and he were in Omaha where the guys went to a tractor workshop. Then there was something about a $5.00 bill and going out? Viola, I hope you remember that story with delight. It still brought Dad joy in the remembering! He is grateful for your friendship. Please know of our prayers and support. Sr. Marcia & Ed Baumert
