He was born March 15, 1931 in Fremont to William and Olga (Buhrig) Thompson. He attended and graduated from Fremont High School in 1949. He attended Midland College in Fremont for 2 years while working at J.C. Penneys.

He enlisted in the United States Navy, serving 4 years in air traffic control. Following his military service, he returned to Fremont and finished 2 more years at Midland College, graduating in 1957.

In 1956, he was married to Joyce Dunn and they moved to Bloomington, Minnesota where they worked for Prudential Life Insurance Company until 1969. They moved to Richmond, Minnesota where they owned and operated a restaurant. In 1985, they moved back to Fremont and he worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance Company until 1991. He then went to work for J.C. Penney for about 14 years until retiring in 2006.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce in 1995, and his parents, William and Olga.

Survivors: sister - Betty and husband Vic Wennstedt of Fremont
nephew - David and wife Phyllis Wennstedt of Papillion
2 nieces - Brenda and husband Bob Hemje of Grand Island
Barbara and husband Norm Keimig of White Bear Township, Minnesota
several great nephews and nieces
very dear friends - Lois Barger and her son Joey of Fremont

Memorials may be given for the Dodge County Humane Society, as he was a long-time owner of several dogs.

The will be no public visitation or funeral service.

    Bill Thompson family: I met Bill at the old West School and then went through the Fremont School system and two years at Midland with him before he went into the Navy. There was a group of us in High School who did things together. Some I remember were Leola Parrot, Jane Evans, Fred Fiedler, Joan Owens, Alice Johnson, Miriam Moomey, Warren Turner, and Bill.     I lived just 2 blocks away from Bill on Military. We first met at West Elementry school. We were part of a group that worked and played together all through Junio and Senior High school. The last time I spoke with Bill was at Jc Penney store in 1999. My condolences to family and friends.
