On October 2, 1940, Helmuth was married to Maria Koch in her parents home near Dixon, Nebraska by Rev. L.M. Doctor. The couple farmed south of Leigh, moving to Denver, Colorado to live during the year of 1946, then returning to Leigh. In January of 1968, they moved to Fremont. Helmuth worked for Valmont until retiring in 1980. Although retired, he never grew tired of the challenge of inventing and fabricating things to make them easier or handier to use.

He was preceded in death by his wife Maria on May 31, 2008, his parents, an infant daughter, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

scribner, ne Tuesday, October 19, 2010 To the family of Helmuth; a kinder man has never been known, the time he spent helping others can never be counted in hours only in the love he gave along with his talents, don't cry because he is gone, laugh because he lived, as he would want you to do, he now is with his beloved Maria, free of pain, may he rest in peaceBob and Winona Lee
