  1. Arnelle Sanford
My beloved husband, Sandy (Wayne), and I had the pleasure and privilege to meet Joel's dad and mother when they visited Joel in Woodland, CA who lived across the street from us. Sandy and Elly were about the same age. They both loved to talk, tell stories as well as jokes. I didn't know about Elly's loving to dance. So did Sandy! Maybe they are getting reacquainted in a nice place today. My husband's mother's name was Dorothy, and that was Elly's wife's name, so there were some threads in the tapestry of life. If I were to have a son, it would be Joel. We more or less adopted him in California. May God's blessings be bestowed on their wonderful family.

Truly an overall feeling of sadness when the word spread at Diers. Elly and Dorothy have been valued customers for a long time. Their presence has always provided an air of levity to an otherwise long workday. I will miss hearing Elly yell, "Hey Tex!!!" upon his arrival. I always wanted he and Dorothy to have the chance to stop and meet my parents in Texas whenever visiting their daughter in Lubbock. But now, my father has one more friend in Heaven. May God be with you!!
  18. Janet (Peitzmeier)Kai

I will always remember Elly as having a quick joke or a special song. I am sure that my dad was there to meet Elly and show him the way around heaven. I am sure those two are having a great old time, dancing, singing, and just having fun. Again my sincere sympathies are with you all. Take care and may God Bless all of you!!

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Willnerd family on your loss. We have heard many great stories from Joel concerning his father and were deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Although we never met Joel's father, we know what a great man he was by his son Joel's compassion, caring for others, and sense of humor which Joel must have learned from his parents. It is always hard to lose a parent but the wonderful memories will last forever. Please find comfort in your memories of Elwyn and remember we are thinking about you during your time of sorrow.

So many many memories of Elly! Old timers shuffleboard at the Blue Lantern, Swedish jokes, teasing Molly while she hung out with Brent and Jamie, dancing to my Dads polka music and that smile! Heaven is just that much better now with Elly there! You do have all our prayers and thoughts as your family grieves, just because Elly now has it made, we cannot negate the sorrow. 33. Lynn & Jeannine Moeller
We are very sorry to hear about the loss of Elly. We have many fond memories of him, from doing his hay for many years, to visits whenever we saw him. We always knew he would have a story that would make us laugh. His family meant so much to him . Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you .
  34. Connie Kiefiuk
I never had the privilege of meeting Joel's Dad, but hearing the stories from Joel made him real. Elwyn was treasured by his son, as many times Joel would speak of spending time fishing, driving to town or just visiting. The way Joel spoke about his Dad showed how much he cared and will miss him. God bless, and my prayers are with Elwyn's family as they remember him.
  35. Dorothy Smith
I loved Ely like a dad. He was warm, loving, ornery, and full of joy. He was always full of jokes and laughter and ready to break out in song. I treasure the years we sang together in choir. My last memory of him was standing arm in arm at the back of the church harmonizing on Amazing Grace just two weeks before we lost him. God comfort his family. His passing left a hole in the heart of everyone who ever knew him. I look forward to seeing him again in heaven and I hope he doesn't kid around with the angels too much in the meantime.
  36. Kim and Becki Heusel
We are saddened to read of Elly's passing. He was a loving, giving, and funny man. When I used to sing for worship at Hooper Faith Church, he was always one of my biggest fans. Our prayers go out to the entire family. Kim, Becki, Aaron and Robin Heusel (and Tom who was born in Indianapolis, and never got the privilege of meeting Elly.)
  37. Linda Ramos
I am saddened that such a person as Elly has passed. I did not have the privilage to meet Elly but I know he was a very fortunate father to have a son who loved him and admired him so much. It takes very special person in this world to be such a wonderful and admired father. He was and still is at the front of these special people, except now he continues his job to guide and love his family from high above, amoung the clouds where he now rests. My prayers go out to the entire family.
