Charlotte was born April 27, 1917 on a farm near Herman, Nebraska to Dennis and Ella 'Longwell' Osburn. She moved to California during World War II to work in the shipyards. She met Merida Odle there and on May 5, 1944 they were married in San Francisco, California. After the couple moved back, her husband began working for Merle Newkirk on a farm in the Spiker area of Washington County. After 3 years the couple began farming for themselves on a farm west of Spiker for 18 years. The couple quit farming in 1967 but stayed on the farm while her husband worked for the Co-ops in Winslow and Nickerson. The couple moved into Hooper in 1990.

Charlotte was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Hooper and a former member of the Alder Grove Methodist church and the United Methodist Women. Charlotte was also a member of the Get-Together Club for 20 years.
