My thoughts and prayers are with all of you as I received the news of your husband and father's passing in the spring of his 91st year of life! God is good and granted a long, rewarding life to His humble servant. He was just Jo's dad to me as we ran amuck together as teens! I always wondered what he thought of me...but I'd never ask. I hope this finds you all well and enjoying sharing all those wonderful memories of growing up and away! Jo, we have some catching up to do! Nancy, it's just good to think about you once again. Robart, did we ever have fun kidding around? Marg, just to know you live so far away and married Ben! Mrs. Heyne, remember me? It's been so long. Love to all!

Willard was the only grandfather that I've ever known. He is also the standard that I hold myself, and all men, up against. One of my proudest moments was standing with my grandfather at a Memorial Day ceremony that we both attended in Uehling shortly after my enlistment. As a child, during family trips to Nebraska, Willard rode the refrigerated conveyor in his bottling plant with me. We drank chocolate milk straight off the line. Along with feeding the calves from over-sized baby bottles, this is my earliest memory. I love my grandfather; may he rest in peace.

Our thought's and prayers our with your family. He was a man of knowledge and a kind heart. I know the family has lost a loveone and the community a man of strenght and support. He will be missed. I will never forget the day I closed his pickup door [thinking I was helping him] and he said he needed to be able to jump in and go. I enjoyed working at the plant and the farm even more he was always kind and and respectful.

To Willard's family, My thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sorrow. I grew up in Uehling and spent many a day out at the dairy farm. Willard was always so kind to us kids. I am sure he will be missed by many. Take care and God Bless you all. Nancy
  5. Harlan and Adelaide Low
Our sympathy to you Ruth, and your family. We have many memories of driving by your farm when traveling to Bancroft to visit Harlan's sister Edith Havekost and also when our daughter Karen Hepp lived in Lyons. We always thought it was such a pretty place. So many memories of Willard at the Low family reunions also.
  6. Donald Peterson
Willard's mother (Tillie), and my maternal Grandmother (Martha Busselman Monnich) were sisters. Although I was born & raised in California, I remember often times viewing treasured family photographs with my mother (Linda Monnich Peterson). Many of those wonderful photographs included Grand Aunt Tillie, Willard, Ruth, and family. On one of our many trips back to Uehling, my wife, Yvonne, & I thoroughly enjoyed touring the dehy-plant, & the dairy with Willard. Honestly, I do believe that we provided all of the day's entertainment as we eagerly moved from the milking area to the stalls where the calves were held. We will never forget the childlike abandon we felt as we looked into the beautiful eyes of the young calves. Willard encouraged us to "stick out a finger," & my wife squealed with delight as her newly found friend began to nurse gently. Yes, we were certainly "green horns" who will be forever grateful to Willard for his patience, knowledge, and unselfishly sharing his world with his visiting relatives. We pray that his family will also find comfort through their cherished memories. Rest in peace, Cousin Willard.

My sympathies to the family. Uehling was, and still is, my home town. My Dad, Roy, worked for Willard for many years. My three older brothers all worked for Willard at some point in time. I worked at the dairy only briefly planting trees on the north side of the plant on the hill. Nancy was behind me a couple of years in school. Willard and Ruth made it a point to attend my Dad's funeral in 1968 and my Mom's funeral just four years ago this month. He will be missed but the memories will last forever.

Ruth, I work for NPPD and enjoyed the time I that worked with Willard when he had the Dairy and DeHy in Uehling and I worked out of the Oakland office. He was a very smart business man but was also a very upstanding gentleman. My condolence to you and your family, but do remember that he was very well respected and I did enjoy the time that he touched my life. Jo, I'm so sorry for the loss of your dad. After reading his obituary, he was a very remarkable man and will be missed by many. Remember, he is only as far away as your cherished memories and your heart! My sincere sympathy to you & your family. God be with you. Sincere sympathy, Barb Smith Christiansen

Willard came into the Logan Creek Cafe & Saloon in Uehling quite often while I was the owner. It was a pleasure to see him daily for soup and sometimes pie. He was a pillar in the community and will be greatly missed. God bless the family at this sad time. Polly Pope
