Liola was born May 3, 1918 in Walcott, No. Dakota to Oscar and Caroline (Peterson) Boyer. At the age of 12, she moved with her family to Fortuna, No. Dakota.

On December 20, 1939 Liola was married to Bernhardt 'Bennie' Freund in Fortuna. They lived in Westby, Montana where Bennie operated a Conoco Service Station, then they moved to California and after a brief time there, they moved to Fremont in 1962. Liola worked for several different businesses including, Vienna Bakery, the bakery dept. of Hinky-Dinky, 5th Seasons, Vern's Flowers, Interiors by Joan, Customs Draperies and More, and Interiors Plus.

Liola was a member of First Lutheran Church and it's Solo's group. She was an avid card player and enjoyed playing Bunco.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bennie in January of 1985, and by a son Dale Freund in July of 2003, and by 4 brothers.

Survivors: 2 daughters - Bonnie and husband Randy Matzke of Plentywood, Montana
Phyllis and husband Marc Driscoll of Bozeman, Montana
2 sons - Larry and wife Noreen Freund of Sacramento, Calif.
Ricki and wife Jacqie Freund of Fremont
daughter-in-law - Susan Freund of Fremont
14 grandchildren
31 great grandchildren

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Friday (Febr. 19th) at First Lutheran Church (3200 E. Military) in Fremont with the Rev. Charlie Axness officiating. The committal will follow in Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Thursday (Febr. 18th) from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM., and at the church Friday morning for an hour before the service.
