Ruth was born on October 21, 1919 on the family farm near Arlington to William and Hilda (Bierman) Franke. She grew up in the Arlington area, attending St. Paul's Lutheran School and the Brinkman High School.

On June 5, 1938, Ruth was married to Irwin Dickmeyer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Arlington. They farmed east of St. Paul's until moving into Fremont in 1956. Ruth then worked for the flower shops in Fremont.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Fremont. She had been active in the choir and with the Quilter's group, and sewed quilts for World Relief. She also belonged to the LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League). She enjoyed playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Irwin in March of 2002, a son Roger, a brother and 2 sisters.

Survivors: daughters - Gloria (and husband LeRoy) Phinney of Fremont.
Dianne (and husband Wilbur) Meyer of Omaha
son - Gerald (and wife Janet) Dickmeyer of West Des Moines, Iowa
sister - Phyllis (and husband Jim) Petersen of Mesa, Ariz.

The funeral service will be Friday (Jan. 29th, 2010) at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dan Heuer officiating. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund and to Odyssey Hospice.

Visitation at Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be Thursday (Jan. 28) from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM.

    Due to our family living out west, I never really got to spend much time with Aunt Ruth, but when we did, you could always sense her gentle spirit and how much she loved her family. She was a wonderful lady, loved the Lord, and is in heaven with Jesus!
