Kitty was born January 16, 1919 in Crawford, Nebraska to Arthur and Margaret 'Chase' Johnson. She grew up in Fillmore County, attended Thayer Fillmore County schools and graduated from Ohiawa High School in Ohiawa, NE. in 1937. Kitty moved to Lincoln after graduation. 'Kitty' Irmgard Bruning met Edward Christensen and was married on March 20, 1953 at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Lincoln. Kitty was baptized as an adult at the same church. They lived in Lincoln one year while her husband attended the University of Nebraska. Later they moved to Kimball for one year, then moved to a farm southwest of Hooper that belonged to Ed's uncle, Albert Nielsen and farmed till their retirement 1983 and moved into Hooper. Kitty lived in Fremont briefly until moving into the Hooper Care Center in April of 2000. Kitty was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Hooper and the United Methodist Women.

Son - James Christensen of Indianapolis, IN.
Sister - Helen Jean White of Topeka, KS.
Sister-in-law & Brother-in-law - Lois and Charles Anson of Lincoln
Brother-in-law - Delmar Akerlund of Hooper
Nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews

She was preceded in death by her husband Ed in 2002 & 4 Brothers (Oliver, Harry, Walter and Frederick)

The funeral will be 10:30am Thursday January 8, 2009 at Faith United Methodist Church in Hooper. The Rev. Susan Sanders will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials are suggested to Faith United Methodist Church. Visitation will be in Hooper at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 3pm to 8pm with family receiving friends from 6pm to 7:30pm .
