Berniece was born October 1, 1936 in Wallace County, Kansas to Alex and Mary 'Urban' Basgall. She was baptized at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Wallace Kansas on October 4, 1936 by Father Rodger Schmidt. She grew up in Wallace until moving to Sharon Springs Kansas at a young age. Berniece graduated from Sharon Springs High School in 1954. She then attended Hayes St. College and received her teaching certificate. She then taught school at Wallace Grade School. She married Charles Boyle on June 13, 1960 at Church of the Holy Ghost in Sharon Springs, Kansas by Father I.J. Manzo. The couple eventually moved to Scribner where they remained. After moving here Berniece taught school at Mud Creek Pebble District #25 northwest of Scribner until starting her family.

Berniece worked various part-time jobs including Lee's market, Scribner Pharmacy, Morris Oil, The Depot, and Elkhorn Valley Villa. For years she taught CCD at St. Lawrence, was a member of its guild, was choir director, played guitar and was a very active member. She was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary, SEA Club and Sunshine Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 1996, a great grandchild Charli Podiska, 4 brothers and 1 sister.

The Funeral Mass will be 10:30am Saturday January 3 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner. The Rev. Vitalis Anyanike will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery. Memorials will be established at a later date. Visitation will be on Friday 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 7pm at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. A vigil service will be held at 7pm at the church.
