I served in the armed forces.
Bill was born September 12, 1943 in Batavia, Iowa to Gerald and Freida (Pratt) Hocking. The family moved to Hooper where he grew up. He was baptized and confirmed in the former Grace Lutheran Church of Hooper. Bill received his education in the Hooper schools.

Early in his working career, Bill was employed by Valmont Industries near Valley. During most of his working years however, he was an over the road truck driver, retiring at age 68.

He is a member of the Hooper Masonic Lodge No. 72 A.F. & A.M. and Friendship Chapter No. 122 Order of Eastern Star. He was the owner of a piper cub airplane and had received his pilot license at an early age. He was a member of the Aircraft Owner Pilots Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald 'Jerry' and Freida.

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Wednesday morning (Febr. 20th) in Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel in Hooper with the Rev. Joel Schroeder of Redeemer Lutheran Church. The committal will follow in the Hooper Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday only, from 9 AM until the service at 10:30 AM.
