Send Flowers Send Flowers
He was born May 15, 1934 in Butterfield, Minnesota to Leonard and Mamie (McStockard) Shaw. Ron spent most of his childhood in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School in 1952. He was very involved in high school athletics and played on the only undefeated and untied Fremont High School football team. He was inducted into the Fremont High School Hall of Fame.

Ron attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. During this time, at age 21, he contracted polio and dealt with it all his life. He was a CPA (certified public accountant) and had his own firm in Fremont for 20 years before a merger which created the Young, Shaw, Hull, & Navarrette, CPA's, in 1982, and now known as Shaw, Hull & Navarrette, CPA's.

Ron was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. He was well known for his roses, and has received many awards, both locally and nationally, not only for growing roses, but also for his photographs of roses. Many of his pictures have appeared in national magazines and books.

On June 23, 1962, Ron was married in Salem Lutheran Church to Dorothy Bucklin. Dorothy preceded him in death on November 18, 2008.

Mr. Shaw was my father John's accountant all of his life. I don't think I have ever heard of my father speak of anyone else in his life in such positive terms. I knew Mr. Shaw and greatly respected him for his attitude dispite his disability. I'm sure my brother Pud was there to welcome him into heaven. Gregg Kupfer

Ron was a great friend and we will all miss him. His successful struggles to overcome his handicaps were an inspiration to us all. His outstanding accomplishments as a Rosarian will be difficult to match.
