died Friday (Nov. 1, 2013) at Clark Jeary Senior Living in Lincoln.
Winifred was born March 25, 1915 in Newman Grove, Nebraska to Leon and Ethel (Justice) Bulla. She lived her childhood years in Ansley, where she graduated from high school. After attending 'normal school' through her high school, she began teaching at the age of 17. Later she graduated from Midland College in Fremont and then did post graduate studies at the University of Nebraska while continuing her teaching career. She had been a teacher for 34 years when she retired, including many of those years in Fremont at Washington and Northside Elementary schools. After retiring she was a Red Cross Volunteer at the hospital in Fremont until she was 85.
On June 13, 1936, Winifred was married to Maurice 'Mike' Kulhanek in Loup City. They lived in Broken Bow where Mike was with Gamble-Skogmo until he was transferred to Fremont in the late 1940's. They lived briefly in Fremont, then moved to Nickerson for 8 years before returning to Fremont. Mike retired from Hormel's in 1979 after 30 years there.
Winifred was preceded in death by her husband Maurice in August of 2005, and by a brother and 2 sisters.

Her funeral service will be 10:30 AM Friday (Nov. 8th) at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael McGregor. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be on Thursday (Nov.7th) from 2 to 8 PM and at the church on Friday for an hour before the service.
