Helen Ruth Zahourek, 86, of Scribner, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, March 16th, 2014 at the Hooper Care Center in Hooper, Nebraska.

Helen was born in Hooper to Edward and Caroline "Carrie" (Heller) Dau on January 2, 1928. She graduated from Hooper High School in 1944. She married Leonard Zahourek on June 10, 1947.

Helen enjoyed her family and interacting with friends, church, and community through St. Catherine's Guild, card club, and served the coffee crowd at Z's Bar, owned by her son Dan Zahourek. An avid reader, she was a frequent patron of the Scribner Public library.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Carrie, 5 older brothers Robert, Kermit, Jerry, Neil, and James, sisters Mary (Fauss) and infant sister Florence, son, Timothy (1986) and a great grandson, Collin.

Survivors include husband, Leonard. Sons: Ronald (Nancy), their children, Patrick, Kelsey, Jill, and Ann; James (friend Jeaneen Kindschuh) and son, James Jr.; Daniel (Tracie), and children Jonathan, Andrea, Stefanie and Joseph; Thomas (Janet), and children Ryan and Jaki. Daughters: Anne Jung and children, Jeffrey, Jeannette, and Kathryn; and Caroline (Scott) "Carrie" Crawford and children Tristan, Austin, Damon, Aiden, and Ethan. Great Grandchildren: Theadosha and Jayme (James Jr.), Landon and Natalyn (Kathryn), Madeline, Parker, Beckett, and Emmett (Andrea). Brother - in- law, Raymond Fauss and Sister- in- law, Diana (Alvin) Dinslage.

Memorials may be directed to the family for donation to the Scribner Public Library in Scribner, Nebraska.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30am Tuesday March 25 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner. Father Damien Wee will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be Monday March 24 from 6pm to 7pm with a Wake Service at 7pm, all at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner. Private Burial will be at a later date in the Scribner Cemetery.
