Richard was born on November 26, 1945, to Martin 'Bud' and Lucille Dorfmeyer in Fremont, Nebraska. He graduated from Hooper High School in 1964. After graduating, he served in the Army for two years during the Vietnam War. After the war, he married and had one child; son Richard J. Dorfmeyer.
'Reach Out' spent most of his life living in Winslow, Nebraska, working at his bar. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, fishing in the Logan Creek, traveling and working in his shop. Richard will be remembered for always lending a hand to those in need. His inviting grin and laugh will never be forgotten. All who knew 'Reach' and loved him were amazed by his strength in character and his willingness to never give up.
He was preceded in death by his parents Martin 'Bud' and Lucille Dorfmeyer of Hooper, NE.
He is survived by: Son Richard (Jennifer) Dorfmeyer of Omaha, NE; Brother Jerald (Cathy) Dorfmeyer of Elwood, NE; Sister Sharon (Bob) Mueller of Exeter, NE, Grandchildren Cole and Bailey Dorfmeyer of Omaha, NE.
The memorial service will be 10:30am Friday October 10 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. The Rev. Bruce Schut will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery north of Hooper with Military Honors. There is no visitation.
