Maxyne S Brannon passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2016 at MCH Hospice, Blair, NE following a short heart related illness.

Maxyne S Brannon was born on March 27, 1933 to William and Edna Steffen. She was raised in Grand Island, NE. and graduated from Grand Island High School in 1951. She married Gordon C Brannon on February 21, 1954 in Grand Island. Gordon worked for George A Hormel Company and they transferred with the company from cities in Nebraska to Idaho, returning to Fremont in 1970. Maxyne was a homemaker and volunteer while also supporting their business ventures, Brannon Enterprises, after Gordon retired from Hormel in 1973. She moved to Blair last year.

Family was the center of Maxyne's world-she was beaming from the front row at all her children and grandchildren's events. Nothing made her more proud than her family-she was quick to show the latest photos. She enjoyed cooking, photography and any craft project. Maxyne was a 60 year member of the Episcopal Church-46 years at St James in Fremont. Maxyne was a lifelong member of ECW, St Anne's Guild, Church Women United and Alter Guild. Maxyne was a 47 year member of PEO, Chapter GH and an Eastern Star.
Since 1972, she participated in the Annual Holiday Bazaar at St James and was a Founding member of the Tuesday Crafters. Maxyne was known for her bows, creativity and crafting abilities. She was active in several civic and community organizations, serving on many boards.

Maxyne is survived by her three sons: Scott Brannon (Dawn Lodl) of Omaha; Mike Brannon (Amy) of Fremont; Curt Brannon of Elkhorn; and daughter, Steffenie (Jack ) Morine of Blair, NE. Brother, Donald Steffen of Bradenton, FL, and Brother In Law, Rollie Stroh of Grand Island, NE.

Maxyne was the most proud of her grandchildren: Shae Brannon of Los Angeles, CA; Miranda (Teddy) Turnblacer of Fredrick, MD; Ian and Halle Brannon of Elkhorn; Hannah and Abbey Morine of Blair, NE. And 1 year old Great Granddaughter, Sofia Turnblacer.

Maxyne was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon C Brannon; her parents; Sister, Dorothy Stroh and Sister in Law, Carol Steffen.

Per Max's wishes, a private family service will be held with no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St James Episcopal Church-Tuesday Crafters in Fremont.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5-7 pm on Monday, March 28, 2016 in the Parish Hall at St James Church, 5th and D Street, Fremont, NE. The family requests everyone come casual for food, fellowship and to remember one of the best!

I'm so very sorry for your loss. My son Brandon and I told Max we would come to Blair and visit, we didn't make it. I spent a lot of time conversing with Maxyne and she always listened, gave advice if needed, and never judged me. She's going to be a glorious Angel in Heaven. God will rest her soul. May peace be with your family. Maxyne will be forever missed.
  14. Heather Murphy Burdick
Sending my deepest sympathies during this very sad time. I can't think about my childhood and not think about the Brannons. Mrs. B always had a smile on her face, and I always felt she was so happy to see me!
    Thinking of you,
    Heather

Great write up; It is still not enough to portray what a wonderful person she was. Its hard to believe this chapter of our family has come to a close. I take comfort that our grandparents are together again. I keep imagining Gramma Max and Grampa Red dancing! They both are missed dearly. Teddy, Sofia and I are sending love and hugs from Maryland. I am so sorry I cannot be there. Xo

To all of the Brannon family, You are in our prayers. Our hearts, too, are broken. Max will always be one of the finest ladies we have ever known! We send our love.
