On June 15, 1939 she married her high school sweetheart, Leonard Havekost. They settled on the farm north of Hooper that would be their home for over 50 years. In 1970 Alice received her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Midland Lutheran College (now Midland University). She resumed her teaching career in several area rural schools, and retired as the Uehling Elementary School Principal.

Preceding her in death are her parents William and Anna, husband Leonard, brother Raymond Heller, sisters Marie (Heller) Paul and Beth Lucille Heller who died in infancy; son Joel, and granddaughter Meg Havekost. I am sorry to hear of Alice's passing. I remember her well from growing up as neighbors on our family (Miltona & Verona Muller), and going to school and growing up with her and Leonard's children, especially Joel and Miles. She was always so friendly with a smile on her face.

    So sorry for your loss.
  3. Stan & Ione (Hasemann) Popken
Your mom and mine were such good friends in St. Pauls many years ago. Then we enjoyed her teaching in the Uehling Elementary School when our children attended there. She was always so friendly and ready to visit in the years after that when we would meet in the stores. Am sorry I didn't get to see her in these last years but will always remember her. In fact, am remembering your whole family when you all were little kids at home and had this wonderful mother watching over you. Blessings to you. With sympathy & love
