Died Monday, August 9, 2021 at Providence Place
Dorothy Jean (Snover) Willnerd was born December 19, 1926 on a farm south of Hooper. Dorothy attended Hooper High School where she lettered in women's basketball and graduated in 1944. She went on that same year to be a telegraphic typewriter operator for the War Department in Omaha. In 1945 she resigned her job to move back to Hooper to help her brother's family, because he was deployed during WWII. She took care of his farm until his return. Dorothy met her husband to be Elwyn Willnerd at a dance in Hooper. They were wed on December 15, 1946. They moved onto the farm west of Hooper in 1947, where she raised her family, for the next 68 years. Dorothy worked for many years as a CNA at the Hooper Care Center.
Dorothy loved God, her family and the family of Faith United Methodist Church in Hooper. She was a proud member for 80 years. She was a long time member of the United Methodist Women and served as an officer on the local and district levels. She loved to fish, dance the polka and travel. She was an avid gardener and true farm wife. Most of all she loved her family. Everyone in the family knew they were loved by Dorothy with the big hugs and the 'O, it's so good to see you'.
The family wishes to extend a heart felt thank you to the staff of Providence Place in Fremont for all of their loving care.
