Harold was born September 28, 1917 in rural Douglas County to James and Augusta 'Johnson' McDuffee. He moved with his family to a farm in Saunders County as an infant. He attended Rural District #46 School (Otoe Creek) and one year at Carey High School. While living in Saunders County he was a member of Pohocco Lutheran Church. Harold then moved to Schuyler where he graduated from Schuyler High School in 1934. While in Schuyler, he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Harold married Henrietta (Etta) Mayhew on June 15, 1944 at St. John's Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of World War II entering the service February 2, 1942; serving in the Asiatic-Pacific and the China-Burma-India Theatre of Operations until being discharged January 26, 1946. After returning from the service Harold and Etta made their home in Fremont. He attended Midland Lutheran College, completed several career related courses at Omaha University and was a 1966 graduate of the Graduate School of Savings & Loan at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

Harold was employed by the Nebraska State Savings & Loan Association for 36 years, retiring as Executive Vice President in 1982, remaining as a member of the Board of Directors until 1988. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and served on the Church Council and as Treasurer for 11 years. Harold was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post #854. He was a member of the American Legion Post #20, Masonic Lodge #15 A.F&A.M., the Fremont Eagles Club Aerie #200, and member and past Secretary of the Fremont Golden 'K' Kiwanis Club all of Fremont. Harold was a former member and Past President of the Fremont Noon Kiwanis Club, past Drive Chairman of the Fremont Community Chest, past member and Secretary-Vice President of the Fremont JayCees, and served a two year term as President of the Fremont Chapter of T.P.A.

Daughter - Janice and husband Jewel Woodall of Garden City, KS.
2 Sons - Duane and wife Judy McDuffee of Sparks, NV.
Allan and wife Virginia McDuffee of Glendale, AZ.
7 grandchildren
3 great grandsons
Sisters-in-law - Marjorie McDuffee of Fremont
Jean Mayhew of Loveland, CO.

Harold was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

The funeral will be 10:30am Thursday, June 2 at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church or directed to the family for memorials to be determined later. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel will be Wednesday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 7pm. Visitation will continue 1 hour before the service at the church.
