Merlin A. Kuss, age 93, of Fremont
died Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Garden Square in Crete.

Merlin was born June 5, 1931 in Winslow to Arthur and Hilda 'Geisler' Kuss. He was raised in Winslow and attended both District #85 and Hooper High School. Merlin served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 after which he returned to Fremont and attended the Radio Engineering Institute and received his certificate as an Electrical Technician. After his schooling he went to Eppley Airfield for a short time, working on airplanes. On May 21, 1961 Merlin married Shirley Knoell at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. After their marriage they moved to Kansas for his work. They returned to Fremont to raise their family, Merlin began his career as an electrician at Hormel Foods, working there until he retired.

One of Merlin's favorite things to do was travel with Shirley and the Pinnacle Bank Heritage Club.

Merlin was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Missy Bell of Story City, IA.
Grandchildren - Lindsay (Thomas) Oelschlager, Adam (Amber) Kuss, Kelsey (Joey) Kalina,
Mandy (Garrett) Smith, Nic Bell, Nathan (Katelyn) Bell and Nolan Bell
Great Grandchildren - Caydence, Aydin, Emilia, Ashton, Kade, Kinley, Sullivan, Everly,
Scout, Ronnie and Baby Girl Kuss due in October.

Merlin was preceded in death by his wife Shirley on January 20, 2024, son-in-law Tom Bell, sister Diane Rinas and Lorraine (Clarence) Moseman; and cousin Donald Kuss.

The memorial service will be 2pm, Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Memorials may be directed to the family. The family will be present one hour before the service at church.
