Bruce aka 'DJ Slatts' leaves behind a legacy of kindness, fun, and love and will be remembered for his love of music and his warm smile.
Born in Scribner on July 10th, 1951 to parents Berndyne and Phyllis 'Johnson' Spath, he is survived by siblings Brian, Jack, and Jill. Bruce was raised on a farm and was known for his hijinks with his brothers and friends, leaving his children and grandchildren with stories that will continue to bring laughter for years to come. Bruce was proud to help his father call square dances when he was younger and that grew into his passion for music and DJ'ing later in life. Bruce married Linda Dufek on June 2nd, 1977 and moved to Schuyler, Nebraska where they raised five children: Jessica, Megan, James, Christian, and Erin.
After his divorce, Bruce moved to Fremont, Nebraska where he lived most of his remaining years. Bruce began his official DJ career during this time as 'DJ Slatts Music and Light Show'. Bruce was well known for offering free dances at the building he resided in which housed primarily elderly or low income folks. He also frequently threw DJ shows in his apartment and shared coffee and treats with his friends and other tenants of the building. His love for music and his kindness knew no bounds and his laughter and smile will be treasured memories always.
Bruce is survived by his siblings, his five children, and four grand children (whom he would move heaven and earth for): Julia, Jameson, Adley, and Jackson. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
