His working career has been in sales, most recently for Lincoln Tool and Design of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Bruce has been a Fremont resident since 1985, having moved here from Grand Island.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He had coached girls softball and basketball for many years. Bruce enjoyed hunting and he was a golfer.
On August 28, 1971, Bruce was married to Sharon Akins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Abner and Doris, and sister Patricia Petersen.
The funeral service will be Wednesday (Dec. 29th) at 10:30 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church (16th & Luther Rd) with the Rev. Dan Heuer officiating. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Tuesday (Dec. 28th) from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM.
