died Saturday (Febr. 23rd)
in the Elkhorn Valley Villa in Scribner.
Ivona was born June 20, 1920 on a farm in Platte County near Platte Center, Nebraska, the oldest daughter of Leo and Julia (Kaipust) Gossman. She attended school in Platte County and during WW II, she worked in Omaha in the office of the Brewmaster of Falstaff Brewery.
On May 1, 1948, she was married to Herbert Mahlendorf in St. John's Catholic Church in Omaha. From 1948 until 1969, Ivona and Herb farmed near Colon, Fremont, West Point and Hooper. In 1969, they moved into Hooper and Ivona began working at the City Meat Market, retiring in 1998 after 29 years.
Ivona was very active in many groups, St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, E.M.E., St. Rose Guild, Church Choir, Jalapa Club, S.M.I.L.E., Senior Center and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #18.
She has resided in the Elkhorn Valley Villa in Scribner the past 3 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert, 3 sisters, and a brother.
Memorials in memory of Ivona are suggested to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Hooper. No public services are planned. Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
