I served in the armed forces.
Howard was born January 19, 1918 in Hooper to Henry and Myrtle 'Haney' Schumacher. He was raised in Hooper and graduated from Hooper High School. After high school Howard served in the United States Army during WWII in the European Theater. When Howard's service was finished he returned to Hooper and worked for a brief time for the railroad. Howard then began working construction. He worked for various companies including Fauss Construction in Hooper.

Howard was married to Emily Pile she preceded him in death in 1964. Howard was then married to Udine in 1966 and she preceded him in death in 1998.

Howard was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Hooper, VFW Post 10535 of Winslow-Hooper, and the American Legion Post 18 of Hooper. Howard also sang with the Pathfinder Chorus for a number of years.

Daughters Marilyn Kilbourn of Fremont
Dian and husband Larry McGinnis of Independence, MO.
Daughter-in-law Sue Schumacher of Lincoln
Step-children Thomas and wife Lenda Caldwell, Myrna and husband Robert Becker, Georgia Mueller, Maree and husband Dean Semin.
6 grandchildren Steve McGinnis, Scott McGinnis, Gina and husband Kevin Colabello, Dustin Kilbourn,
Paul and wife Brooke Schumacher and Mark Schumacher
6 great grandchildren Taylor, Gage, Isabella, Piper, Colin, Sophia
Several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren

Howard was also preceded in death by a daughter Jeannie in 1991, son Michael in 2010, brother Amos and sister Elizabeth.

The memorial service will be Thursday 11am at the Faith United Methodist Church in Hooper. The Rev. Susan Sanders will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hooper Cemetery with Military Honors. There is no visitation.

Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
