Jim was born August 25, 1948 in Columbus, Nebraska to Emil and Dolores 'Glodowski' Papousek. He was raised in Clarkson and graduated from Clarkson High School in 1966. After high school Jim remained in Clarkson and farmed with his family. While Jim farmed, he also worked several different jobs until he began a long career as a mechanic for Dinkel Implement Company in Scribner. On February 12, 1977 Jim married Carol Morfeld. They moved into Scribner in 1989. Jim continued to work for Dinkel until 2007 then worked for Greg Nabor.

Jim was a member of New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, working in the garden, messing around the shed, and giving rides to Emily on the 'Minnow'. Grandkids 'Little Peanut' Emily and 'Smiley Joe' Vinny Jr. were his joy. Jim always had a Hershey bar in his pocket. He also enjoyed listening to Czech Music and playing the accordion.

  1. Donna Lane
I was so sorry to learn of my cousin's passing when my brother Don phoned me. My deepest sympathy to the family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
  2. Sr. Marcia Baumert
    Dear Carol and family,
I was surprised to read of Jim's passing. Please know of my support and prayer. I feel so very blessed to have met and shared some very profound conversations with Jim the last couple months our paths crossed at St. Francis. His spirit had a grounding and vibrance that surpassed the human conditions that seemed to swirl around or within him. I have no doubt that that divine spirit is free beyond our imagining and is present with you and will be present to remind you of his love in supportive and surprising ways ( and playful ways too). I am so grateful for the journey we shared! Big hugs!
    Sr. Marcia
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord let his light shine upon you. May the Lord look upon you and give you peace and strength! Amen
  3. Faith Evans Reick
I've heard it said that the measure of one's life is not how much you love but how much you are loved by others. If this be the yardstick, Jim lived an immeasurable life. Thanks for always being a good friend Jim. My deepest condolence to you Carol, Nina, P.J., Tyler and all the family. Love to you all, Faith Evans Reick

  5. Carol Glodowski Versaci
We were fortunate to have five cousins who graduated from high school in the same year--Jim Papousek, Ron Houfek, Jim Vitamvas, Judy Machacek and myself. We spent time together as children at weddings, dances and family visits. I am sorry to say that I haven't seen Jim for many years. I know that was my loss. Even though I haven't kept in touch, I still hold many fond memories.

I am very sad to hear of Jim's passing. I wish his family peace and faith in this time of God's healing. May the Lord bless and comfort all of you.
  6. Lela Standley

  7. Karrie Burnham
My prayers and deepest condolences for the entire family!
Uncle Jim was a good man. Hard working and caring.
The coming hours, days, months, and years will be challenging but please remember he is will you always!

Nothing I can say or anyone can say will ease the pain of the loss.
Lean on each other and ask for support!
I love you all and I wish I could be there.

    God Bless you!
