I served in the armed forces.
Norman 'John' H. Lueschen, age 83, of Fremont;
died Wednesday (Dec. 31st) in Arbor Manor, Fremont.

He was born February 27, 1931 in Platte County, Nebraska and lived in the Columbus area until 1950. His parents were Herman and Olga (Bakenhus) Lueschen.

In 1950, he moved to Fremont and worked for the Asplundh Tree Expert Co., later he worked for the City of Fremont in the park department. He was self employed for several years as he operated the Lueschen Tree Service. Following the sale of his tree service company to 5th Seasons, he ran the tree department for them.

From March of 1952 to March of 1954, he served in the United States Army with time in Germany and France.
Following his military service he returned to Fremont, and on March 27, 1954 he was married to Elaine Lowther Smith. She preceded him in death in February of 2007.

He had been a member of the Fremont Eagles Aerie 200.

The funeral service will be 10 AM Saturday (January 3rd) at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Dr. David Coe. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors by the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854. Visitation will be Saturday morning for an hour before the service. Memorials are suggested to VFW Post 854.
