Lake Oswego, OR Monday, January 27, 2014 Pam, Vicki, & Ron,I am deeply sorry to hear of Lyle's passing. I have many fond memories of him from my time spent there on the farm: riding with him in his air conditioned combine through the fields, hoeing bean fields, his boisterous welcoming voice at the dinner table at grandma's, the book he gave me on Abe Lincoln when I was in junior high, seeing him in Fremont a few summers ago. Truly a friendly and welcoming person, I will miss him, as I am sure you do so much at this point. I will keep all of you in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Greg Allen

Portland, OR Sunday, January 26, 2014 While growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I spent every summer on Lyle's parent's farm near Fremont. Lyle and his family lived just a mile to the north and he stopped by to see my grandparents and I nearly every day. I enjoyed my time with Lyle immensely. He was fun, very knowledgeable about things going on in the area, and truly cared about how I was doing.Lyle's brother Dale (my father) and I visited Lyle just a year and half ago and had a wonderful time discussing the farm and life in Fremont. I'm so very happy that I had a chance to visit with Lyle before he passed. I think about Lyle and the farm often...I'm going to miss him a great deal.

Hillsboro, OR Sunday, January 26, 2014 Ron, Pam and Vicki: My most vivid memory of Lyle was when he was about five or six years old and we were playing just north of the horse barn. A cat had caught a mouse and was playing with it. I remember telling Lyle what the mouse was going through, and Lyle started crying. I took the mouse, which was not yet hurt, to stop Lyle from crying. I was afraid if Mother came out, she would give me a hard time over making him cry. Lyle stopped crying when I took the mouse away. The other thing I remember about Lyle was playing "pick up sticks". He was good at that and would beat me about half of the time. It was one of the few games we played where he was my equal. One Christmas I got a train. Dad and Uncle Bob put it on a piece of plywood and they played with it most of Christmas Day. Lyle and I finally got to play with it just before supper. Lyle enjoyed the train a lot more than I did. I'm sorry I couldn't make the funeral, but I will always remember Lyle. He was a wonderful brother. Love, Dale Allen

White Salmon, WA Sunday, January 26, 2014 Ron, Pam and Vicki: I just wanted to tell you how sad I was to hear of Lyle's passing. I remember the fun times visiting Nebraska as a girl and spending time at your home or seeing Lyle at his parents home during our visits. I also recall the fun time we had in Washington when you all came out about 10 years ago. He was a great person and will be missed. I will keep you in my thoughts. Geri DennisJoyce Allen
Seattle, WA Saturday, January 25, 2014 Ron, Pam and Vicki -Your cousins out west have been reminiscing about times we all spent out on the farm during our time growing up. We all have such fond memories of those times and you all. Lyle was always so kind and entertaining for us as children and as our only uncle, we will miss knowing of his progress through our dad's communication. You are now all "adult orphans", and we are surely soon to follow. Such is the difficult circle of life. Our hearts are heavy for you and we wish you deep love for each other as you grieve your father's passing. May he rest in peace
